這篇文章寫得不錯 大概是說自從木門變成玻璃門去了皇馬以後 新堡本來成功改善的防守再次變得一厥不振 Orz 也因為芭樂二人組 (Boumsong+Bramble) 實在讓大家大開眼界 也間接影響了 Taylor 的成長 對於 Taylor 的出現, 我們充滿期待 但不會以為現在的 Taylor 能夠達到 Woodgate 的表現 畢竟他只有20歲, 需要成長的空間 好好加油, 順便附上 Taylor 的帥照 ^^ http://0rz.tw/431Wu ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Tayl of regret Oct 15 2006 By Neil Farrington, The Sunday Sun I can't think of anyone with greater reason to regret Jonathan Woodgate's incessant infirmity than Steven Taylor. Not even Woodgate himself. After all, it was Woody's over-familiarity with Newcastle United's physios that earned him a move to Real Madrid. And that, whichever way you sliced it, was a result. Had he not spent so long staring at the ceiling while on Tyneside, the Magpies would have moved heaven and earth to keep him. Well, you'd have hoped so anyway. Had they succeeded, you can be pretty sure Taylor would be a better defender than he appears today. Right now, this is one 20-year-old who looks like he has taken on too much, too young. First things first: Taylor (left) has all the physical attributes to follow Woodgate into the full England team. Strong as an ox and brave as a lion, but blessed with genuine ability on the ball. Unfortunately, those qualities have recently been made to count for nothing - not least in his latest Under-21 international outing - by his mental failings. Taylor's impetuosity sometimes borders on the reckless and can appear, as it did in midweek, utterly brainless. Now, Woodgate (right) is neither mastermind nor saint off the field. But I've not seen a more intelligent defender on the pitch at St James's Park. He may have been on his back too often, but you'd very rarely see him on his backside. Would that Taylor had been learning his trade alongside so princely a player. Instead, he has been paired with calamity kings, Jean-Alain Boumsong and Titus Bramble. It's to the enduring disgrace of both men that a player still in his teens ended up acting as their senior partner. And it's been to Taylor's detriment. But the shame extends beyond Boumsong and Bramble. For whose fault is it that Newcastle United have failed to buy a top-class centre-half in more than two years since Woodgate walked (sorry, limped)? Much of the blame must go to the manager who bought Boumsong. A manager who also treated Taylor disgracefully last season. A manager named Souness. His reign plumbed few lower depths than when he paid £8 million for a defender who had been peddled for his true value - nothing - five months earlier. But in patching Taylor up and putting him back in the team rather than allow him to undergo an operation on a dislocated shoulder, Souness hit rock bottom. As that episode kept Taylor from kicking a ball in anger for the best part of six months, it would be a wonder if he was at his best now, so early in the following season. And there is no doubt that he has the talent to still forge the starry career which seemed an inevitability not so long ago. But with the Newcastle defence still bereft without Woodgate, I just hope Taylor doesn't decide that he can only reach the firmament elsewhere. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.114.222.27
