The speedy England international has cut little ice at Chelsea over the last 18 months and a transfer scramble could well ensue in January after The Blues confirmed they would entertain offers for the 25-year-old. Wright-Phillips' former paymasters Manchester City have confirmed their interest, while West Ham United and Arsenal are also thought to be keen, but they could all face competition from The Magpies. "Any Premiership club, like ourselves, would be interested if he became available," Roeder told the Daily Mail. "He is undoubtedly a highly-talented player." Newcastle fans are unsure what the future holds, as the club are the subject of takeover speculation, but current chairman Freddy Shepherd has reaffirmed his commitment to The Magpies. "On the takeover, I have said as much as Stock Exchange rules allow me to," said Shepherd. "But I want to make it clear that I am as committed to Newcastle as I have ever been. "I'm still planning for the short term, medium term and long term.
