http://www.nufc.com/ Michael Owen and Alan Smith were in Russia as England contrived to lose their vital Euro 2008 qualifier 2-1 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Owen was instrumental in the England goal, heading the ball onto Wayne Rooney who brought it down and smashed it home but our striker was otherwise not involved. Only marginally more than Smith who again didn't make the bench.... Shay Given and Stephen Carr's Republic of Ireland only managed a 1-1 draw at home to Cyprus, equalising in injury time after Cyprus had taken an 80th minute lead. Shay played the full game while Carr was not in the 18 at Croke Park as Steve Staunton's tenure looks to be coming to an end, along with football consultant Sir Bobby Robson. David Rozehnal's Czech Republic travelled to Germany and secured a surprise 3-0 victory, meaning the Czechs have qualified. Rozehnal played the full game. Greece were the visitors to Emre's Turkey and made it to Euro 2008 with a 1-0 victory in Istanbul. Emre was booked and then subbed before Greece's 79th minute winner. James Troisi should also have been in action for Australia's under-23s who were in Beirut for an Olympic qualifier against Lebanon. News awaited. Steven Taylor and James Milner played their second England under-21 game on Tuesday evening, this time against their Irish counterparts in another Euro qualifier. Taylor was again captain and Milner scored in the 3-0 victory at Turner's Cross, Cork with both of our lads completing the full 90 minutes. Wet Ham's Mark Noble scored twice inside the first 20 minutes with Milner's effort in the 26th minute going in via a deflection following a neat turn on the left side of the box. England top the group with maximum points from four games with Portugal three points behind. Charles N'Zogbia was also on his travels as the French under-21s took on Romania at the Emil Alexandrescu Stadium in Iasi. The game ended goalless, leaving France at the top of Group 10 with 11 points from five games. Romania stay second, three point behind with a game in hand. Charlie's participation in the game is to be confirmed. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.62.77.83
