The 27-year-old battled on for another 10 minutes after the knock but was eventually replaced by David Rozehnal in the 70th minute. And it was a dazed Smith who emerged from the away dressing room after the game, admitting that he had very little recollection of the incident. Sam Allardyce confirmed that the United skipper was OK following the sickening clash but that they would wait until Monday before deciding if he will be fit to face Man City at St.James' Park on Wednesday. "Alan's suffering from severe concussion but thankfully he's OK," the Magpies boss told nufc.co.uk after the 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
