Geordie Hero Is Toast Of The Toon

Geordie hero Andy Carroll was the toast of the Toon on Saturday night
after his "dream" goal rescued a point for Newcastle United during Saturday's
2-2 draw with West Ham.
The 20-year-old, making his full home debut, rose to head home past Robert
Green with 12 minutes left on the clock for what was his first senior strike
in black and white.

And Carroll, a lifelong Magpie fan raised across the River Tyne in
Gateshead, admits it was a dream come true to open his United account in front
of the Gallowgate faithful.
"It's something I've dreamt about for a long time and when I saw the ball
go in my head was just buzzing," he told nufcTV.
"I think everything just went blank and I jumped in the air.
"All my family, my mam, dad and two brothers were in the stands and it was
just unbelievable to score my first goal at St.James' Park."

He added: "It was a great cross from Damien Duff and I just tried to head
it back towards goal and luckily it's gone in.

"I thought we deserved the draw and the lads have done well to come back
from going behind."
Carroll's new-look braided hairstyle had been the subject of much mickey
taking at the club's Benton HQ in the build-up to the game, but the Academy
graduate insists his "cornrow" cut is there to stay.

"I've taken loads of abuse about the haircut all week but it's staying in
now," he laughed.
"Everyone was saying it was getting shaved off if I didn't get a goal,
but it is now my lucky haircut so I will have to keep it and see how many
goals I get with it.
"If I had the braids taken out like the lads had said on Thursday and
Friday it might not have gone in, but the braids cushioned the ball in.
這個被批評了一週的新髮型，隨著進球也宣佈，保留！
不用去剃光囉 (想想愛爾蘭.......................XD)
"I spent two and a half hours getting this done. It was long and too
messy, I just wanted to do something different. The lads wanted it taken out,
but there was no way they were getting their way. It had to stay in even
though I got so much stick."
Carroll 也知道他之前留長的一把頭髮很亂
