個人覺得這是有點過於樂觀的期待畢竟競爭對手之一的Man Utd才剛拿下去年的Premiereship冠軍今年暑假又才過去美國踢了幾場比賽他們在美國的知名度比喜鵲大多了最近才加入競爭戰局的Chelsea也不可小覷他們的俄國富商老闆所展現的經濟實力跟執行力讓人咂舌反觀我們,雖然去年拿下第三名不過今年一開賽以來的表現實在讓人心碎更別說失去歐冠的比賽資格跟上千萬英鎊收入了不過如果真的能獲選為拍片的球隊的話不但對喜鵲在美國的知名度有幫助可怕的電影週邊商品利益對球隊真的是一筆可觀的收入現在就看贊助廠商Adidas的影響力是否真的能夠決定最後獲選的隊伍了 http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/eveningchronicle/eveningchronicle/content_objectid=13374063_method=full_siteid=50081_headline=-Newcastle%2Dfavourite%2Dto%2Dnet%2Dfilm-name_page.html Newcastle favourite to net film Sep 5 2003 By Owen Mcateer, The Evening Chronicle Magpies skipper Alan Shearer could be lifting an Oscar as the club's next trophy after it emerged Newcastle United are now favourites to land a starring film role. It was reported earlier this year that the club were among those vying to be considered for the ￡15 million Hollywood blockbuster Goal. Despite football still being a minority sport in the USA, Los Angeles-based film makers believe they can cash in on the billions of people around the world who religiously follow it. After originally going head-to-head with Manchester United for the role of the club the main character plays for, Everton and Chelsea have now also emerged as late contenders. But today sources in Zurich, Switzerland, home of football's world governing body Fifa, revealed Newcastle was their preferred choice. Fifa has a hand in the project and is believed to be keen to see Newcastle win through as their kit manufacturer Adidas is one of the governing body's official sponsors. The film, being made by Hollywood producer Lawrence Bender, responsible for hits such as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, will give prominence to the brand of the chosen club, especially in merchandising. If Newcastle United are successful it could also give them a high profile in the US. Last month Newcastle United chief Douglas Hall met the film's co-producer Mike Jefferies when he visited St James' Park. Goal will star Gael Garcia Bernal as a teenager from Los Angeles who uses money put aside by his parents for his education to come and be a footballer in the Premiership. A spokesman for FIFA said: "We are interested in formally supporting this project and has been in detailed discussions with the producer. However contracts have not yet been finalised.
