Nene posted on his web site (nene31.com.br) that he had a tumor removed Monday at a Denver hospital, but did not specify the nature of the tumor. The sources said the tumor was caught in its early stages. The team expects test results back by the end of the week. The Nuggets have not commented publicly on Nene's medical issues due to privacy laws. Before Monday night's game at Charlotte, Denver coach George Karl touched on Nene's situation, saying: "I was hurt and saddened by the news, and now the support and strength of the team — to give to him — is important. He's a very private person and very quiet person, but we're going to reach out to him and make sure he understands that what he needs will be given to him — emotionally, physically and hopefully spiritually, too." Nene left the team Friday when the team announced he was taking a leave of absence to deal with a medical condition.
