The Bobcats weren’t forthcoming in explaining how the future first-round pick they now owe the Denver Nuggets is protected. Fortunately, my friend Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News got the Nuggets to explain the terms: According to the Nuggets, the Bobcats’ pick is ... Protected through the top 14 in 2009. --Through the top 12 in 2010. --Through the top 10 in 2011. --Through the top 8 in 2012. --Through the top 3 in 2013. If the Nuggets haven’t received the pick before that, they get it unprotected in 2014.
