不是什麼打了雙響或三響的消息,而是受傷的消息... booooo From http://0rz.tw/5d4aR Millar shrugs off hamstring issues First baseman says strain not to blame for baserunning gaffe Kevin Millar doesn't want to make an excuse, especially if it's one that might take him out of the lineup. Baltimore's first baseman has been fighting through a strained right hamstring for more than a week, but he said on Saturday that it didn't affect him in the field or on a baserunning gaffe in Friday night's game. Millar appeared to pull up early on a ground ball to shortstop in the 12th inning, and Boston's Julio Lugo bobbled the ball but was still able to make the throw to first. The veteran's hamstring appeared to affect him again in the top of the 13th inning, when third baseman Melvin Mora made an errant throw and Millar couldn't leap high enough to catch it. Typically, Millar addressed both plays with humor, reminding the assembled writers that he's not real athletic. "Personally, I don't run well with two good hamstrings, so I run a little bit less with a strain," Millar said of his ailment. "It's irrelevant for the seven steps I've got to take out of the dugout and go to first base. I was more frustrated not getting the job done last night, and I had two opportunities [with runners on] first and second. It has nothing to do with Lugo bobbling the ball six times and throwing me out at first base. That happens. I'm slow. I'm a slow individual." Millar provided a lengthy explanation for the baserunning play, saying that he was confused by the crowd reaction. Baltimore had two runners on base when the play happened, and Millar said that he mistook a cheer from the crowd for something else. "Usually, though, I run through the base seven or eight steps," he said. "But if you watch the video, I just stopped right as I hit the bag because the crowd reacted and boom, the throw got me. And that was the situation. It wasn't like I shut down on the play. That's the whole ball of wax. I didn't even know it was an issue. "My hamstring has been like this for seven [or] 10 days. I hit two home runs against the Yankees. It doesn't affect when you trot. It doesn't affect when you hit a double. It doesn't affect when you go first-to-third. I'm slow." "He just didn't run good," added manager Dave Trembley. "I think he was giving us what he had. The other night I was going to give him the day off, and [the next day] he hit two home runs. I told him the night before on the way out of the clubhouse, 'Tomorrow I'm going to give you a day off.' He said, 'No, no.' "You won't get a very good read from Millar. You'll have to do your homework and go to other areas and try and find out really what's going on, because he'll never want out. He'll want to play." Millar, for his part, said that he would abide by the manager's decision, but he also said he'd argue if he was pulled to protect his hamstring. As far as he's concerned, he's not really affected at all by his loss of foot-speed. "I can mask it as a first baseman, and that's what you do," he said. "I've treated it and stuff, and it's gotten better and better. Have I gone full speed on it since I had the strained injury? No, it's more of a choppier stride. ... We just had off Thursday, so it's not like one day, two days, three days off, and all of a sudden, it's going to heal. I know my body. There's injuries, and there's pain you can play through. This isn't an injury that's going to put me on the shelf by any means." Millar also has a massive contusion on his left shin from fouling off a ball against New York's Andy Pettitte, but he reiterated that it isn't something that's going to affect his play or cause him to miss an extended period of time. "This feels like it's broken," he said. "If I do the same thing tonight, it'll shatter in half. But you go through these things during the season. But it's gotten better. It's nothing that's gotten worse. I'm slow either way. Without this we'd be talking about how Lugo could bobble it five times and I'd have been thrown out halfway to left field on a backhand play." -- http://www.wretch.cc/album/Rodriguez3 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.173.167.191 ※ 編輯: baseball 來自: 218.173.167.191 (06/02 17:17)
