Zaun close to deal with Orioles
The Baltimore Sun reported that the Orioles are closing in on a deal
for free agent catcher Gregg Zaun that could be hammered out by the end
of the week.
The newspaper reported that Dan Evans, Zaun's agent, has been busy
finalizing the deal for Japanese pitcher Kenshin Kawakami, who signed
this week with the Atlanta Braves. It is expected that Evans and MacPhail
will then finalize the deal for Zaun.
Zaun would likely start on Opening Day before eventually giving way to
top prospect Matt Wieters
