[外電] Orioles, P Sherrill agree to 1-year contract
BALTIMORE (AP)—Reliever George Sherrill and the Baltimore Orioles agreed
Saturday to terms on a $2.75 million, one-year contract and avoided arbitration.
Sherrill asked for $3.4 million and the Orioles offered $2.2 million. He made
$1 million last season.
Sherrill was an AL All-Star in 2008 during a season in which he went 3-5 with a
4.73 ERA and 31 saves.
Obtained in February 2008 in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, the left-hander
earned the closing job in spring training. He threw 2 1-3 scoreless innings in
the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.
