Pomeranz, 27, has a minor league record of 34-34 with a 4.70 ERA, and a 1.428 WHIP in eight seasons within the Cardinals organization. He was drafted by the Cardinals in the 2nd round of the 2003 draft. He is the older brother of Drew Pomeranz, whom was a key piece in the trade that sent Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians. =========================================================================== by Dan Connolly Orioles have agreed to a minor-lg deal w/ catcher Dane Sardinha, who played 28 games w #Phillies in past 2 yrs. A .166 hitter, solid D Sardinha, 32, has a career batting line of .166/.243/.265 in six seasons with the Reds, Tigers, and Phillies. He posted a .219/.419/.250 batting line in 43 plate appearances for the Phillies last season. Orioles have agreed to a minor-league deal w LHP Casey Fossum, who last pitched in majors for #Mets in 2009; Japan 2010, minors 2011. Fossum, 34, has not pitched in the majors since 2009 with the Mets. He has a career record of 40-53 with a 5.45 ERA, 1.517 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9, and a 7.0 K/9. Fossum posted an 0-4 record with a 6.56 ERA, and a 1.738 WHIP in 35.2 innings for the Mets AAA team in 2011. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 1996 draft by the Diamondbacks. Buck Showalter was a part of the team then. He was later drafted by the Red Sox in the 1st round of the 1999 draft.
