Smith said the decision would depend on Battie and team doctors. Smith also said the team has been in contact with power forward Fran Vazquez, who elected to stay and play in Spain after the Magic picked him in the 2005 draft. Vazquez talked to the Magic twice in December, but would have to negotiate a buy-out with his team.
