Next Coach Will Reflect Bird’s Image 新的教練將有 Bird 的影子。 April 27, 2007 By Conard Brunner We don't know who will be the next coach of the Pacers. But we do have a profile. Team President Larry Bird wants a coach that places a high priority on discipline and accountability. He wants a coach that will run more, but not necessarily run constantly. He wants a coach that will command, and demand, respect from his players. He wasn't going to embarrass his players with public statements or gestures, but any and every violation of a team rule would be punished, regardless of who or when. If the Pacers opt to make a major trade, meaning something involving Jermaine O'Neal, the team will have a very different offensive focus, and possibly a longer timeline for development depending on the type of player or players acquired in return. That'll have a lot to do with whether we hire him or not."
