Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. "Stacey (Augmon) was a player we expressed interest in right at the start of the free agent process," Weisbrod said. "He had many options and we are excited he decided to join our team. He is a mature leader and as good of a defender that was available." Augmon (6'8", 213, 8/1/68) played in 69 games last season for New Orleans, averaging 5.8 ppg., 2.5 rpg. and 1.2 apg. in 20.5 minpg. He started in 24 outings, averaging 8.7 ppg., 2.9 rpg. and 1.5 apg. during that span. Augmon scored in double figures 16 times, including a season-high 21 points on Mar. 13 vs. Golden State. Selected in the first round (ninth overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft by Atlanta, Augmon has appeared in 910 regular season games during his NBA career with Atlanta, Detroit, Portland and the Hornets (Charlotte and New Orleans), averaging 8.5 ppg., 3.4 rpg., 1.7 apg. and 1.03 stlpg. in 22.6 minpg. He has also played in 77 career playoff games, averaging 6.0 ppg., 2.3 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 19.1 minpg. Augmon was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1991-92. Augmon played four seasons at UNLV from 1987-91, averaging 13.9 ppg., 6.9 rpg. and 3.0 apg. in 145 career games. He helped the Runnin' Rebels to two straight NCAA Final Fours and the 1989-90 NCAA Championship. Augmon was named First Team All-America by The Sporting News as a senior (1990-91). He also helped the United States earn a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
