Wesley joined free-agent forward Rodney Rogers (strained left hamstring) on the sideline Monday, along with free-agent forward Britton Johnsen, who missed for the fourth day in a row with an injured ankle. Rogers has been out for the past three Hornets practices. "Rodney is day-by-day, and now so is David," Coach Byron Scott said after practice. "I'm very familiar with hamstring injuries. "The last thing I want to do is push these guys. David told me he'd never had anything like this before. It's probably minor, but I'm going to be extra cautious with David and with Rodney." Wesley missed 21 games last season with a torn ligament in his left big toe. Forward P.J. Brown, who nicked his left ankle in Saturday's practice and subsequently missed Sunday's workout, was back at full speed Monday. PEP TALK: Veteran guard Darrell Armstrong had some loud and harsh words for some of his younger teammates in the post-practice huddle, and even Baron Davis chimed in with a few more reserved comments. Scott said the pair was directing their frustration toward a couple of rookies who muttered some under-their-breath comments toward assistant coach Darrell Walker, which Armstrong apparently overheard. Armstrong said, however, his thoughts were aimed at everyone, not just rookies and free agents. "The message was pretty clear: We've got a good staff, and all four of us are old-school style," Scott said. "We're not going to take any crap from anybody on this team, especially rookies. "They should shut their mouth and just play basketball if they want a chance to make this team. There are a lot of ways to get cut, and that's definitely one of them. I think the veteran guys understood that, and they're trying to make it known to these guys that whatever we say goes and that they've got to listen to it." The coaching staff owns a dozen championship rings between Scott, who won championships with the Los Angeles Lakers; Walker, who won a championship when he played with the Chicago Bulls; and assistant coach Jim Cleamons, who was part of seven title teams as a player and coach in the league. HE MADE IT: Rookie Nate Williams, who declined to sing during the rookie hazing Saturday and was made to run because of it Sunday, managed to make it through his punishment Monday after two failed attempts a day earlier. Williams had to run from one side of the basketball court to the other 17 times in one minute or less. With .05 remaining on the clock, Williams crossed the line on lap No. 17, as Scott watched and some of his veteran teammates cheered him on. . . . . . . .
