Hornets' first 25 games of season none too jolly
Injured New Orleans far cry from promise of last season

Christmastime was much jollier for the Hornets a year ago.
Through the season's first 25 games, New Orleans was 17-8
and in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Hornets had two four-game winning streaks and a three-
gamer to open the regular season. Only once in the first
25 games had the Hornets experienced back-to-back losses.
A healthy Baron Davis led the team in scoring in 17 of the
25 games on his way to an All-Star berth.
This season through 25 games, the Hornets find themselves
2-23, the worst record in the NBA, seem hopelessly out of
the playoff race, 17-1/2 games out of first place in the
Southwest Division, are the only team in the league without
back-to-back victories and have experienced eight-, 11-
and (a current) four-game losing streaks.
Davis returned to action Wednesday night after missing 19
games with an inflamed disc in his lower back. Jamaal
Magloire, David West, Alex Garcia and Jamal Mashburn are
all on the injured list, Garcia and Mashburn for the rest
of the season.
