Scott knows team is trade-talk fodder
Hornets' situation casts it squarely in midst of speculation

Hornets coach Byron Scott expects the rumor mill to keep
churning possible trade deals involving several of his
players until next month's deadline.

"If we were (28-2), you would hear nothing," Scott said.
"But when you're (2-28), you're going to hear a lot of
stuff because obviously management wants you to get better,
and we as coaches want to get better. You've got to get
some players in here who can play. So there is going to
be a lot of talk, and it's just a fact of life."

The Hornets apparently are listening to offers for starting
point guard Baron Davis and several other players, including
veteran forward P.J. Brown.

"With all the trade talk and trade rumors, it's just part of
playing in the NBA," Davis said. "If I am going to be traded,
I would like to have some type of say so and some type of

After Wednesday's 95-89 defeat to the Chicago Bulls, the
Hornets are 1-12 at New Orleans Arena. They have also lost
14 consecutive road games.

"I think for some of the players, it's (trade rumors) probably
a distraction, but this is part of the job," Scott said. "As
far as rumors are concerned, I try to pay no attention to
them. (General Manager) Allan (Bristow) and I talk about
certain things, but I don't think it should be a distraction."

WELCOME BACK: Forward Corsley Edwards returned to the Hornets
on Wednesday after signing a 10-day contract.
He was waived Monday to make room for Rodney Rogers, who was
activated off the injured list after a sprained left knee
forced him to miss 24 consecutive games.
Before his return, Edwards played in nine games and averaged
2.8 points.
BULL STRENGTH: Scott warned his players before Wednesday's
game to not relax on defense, especially after giving up 100
points or more in seven consecutive games.
The Hornets still struggled in the first half, allowing the
Bulls to shoot better than 50 percent for nearly all of the
second quarter.
Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting
during the half. It was Hinrich's 14 consecutive game in double
figures. He finished with 19 points.
"I think besides San Antonio and Sacramento, they (Bulls) are
one of the best cutting teams," Scott said. "The young guys
they've had for the past three years are starting to mature,
and that's why they are starting to play much better."
The Bulls were 8-7 in December, their first winning month
since April 1988.
INJURY UPDATE: Hornets forward George Lynch has participated
in the past few practices but remains listed as day-to-day
after missing the past six games with a right foot injury.

Hornets second-year forward David West still remains two to
four weeks from returning, Scott said. He suffered a bone

"I think it's a little worse than what everybody expected at

ON TIME: The Bulls' charter flight for New Orleans on Tuesday
was delayed by two hours because of a mechanical problem.
So rookie guard Chris Duhon took a commercial flight so he
would not miss his jersey number retirement ceremony at
Salmen High School before the Spartans' game against Bogulusa
on Tuesday night.
Duhon was a standout guard at Salmen before playing at Duke.
He was drafted by the Bulls in the second round in last
June's draft and made his first NBA appearance at New Orleans
Arena on Wednesday night.
Duhon purchased 150 tickets for friends and family. He played
22 minutes and had six assists, three points, three rebounds
and one steal.
