OKLAHOMA CITY -- Hornets reserve center Chris Andersen has been kicked out of
the NBA for violating the league's drug abuse policy.
黃蜂隊的替補中鋒Chris Andersen因為使用非法藥物所以被聯盟剔除...
Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a player testing positive
for amphetamines, cocaine, LSD, opiates and PCP can be disqualified from the
league.
根據規定...如果球員被測出這幾種藥物呈現陽性反應的話...就必須退出聯盟
Players who test positive for performance-enhancing drugs must be suspended
at least three times before disqualification from the league. Andersen has
not previously received a league suspension.
通常球員如果使用興奮劑或者違禁藥品,被發現三次的話才會被聯盟退出.
鳥人之前都沒過這樣的紀錄...
Andersen, 27, will not be able to apply for reinstatement for at least two
seasons.

"All aspects of the NBA's Anti-Drug Program are kept confidential as part of
the collective bargaining agreement, however, we can say that we were
obviously disappointed and saddened to hear that Chris has been dismissed
from the league," Hornets owner George Shinn said. "On behalf of his
teammates, coaches and the entire organization, we wish him well and hope he
learns from this experience."

After practice Friday, Andersen met with Hornets coach Byron Scott and
General Manager Jeff Bower. He traveled with the team to Memphis -- where the
Hornets play tonight -- but then left the team Friday evening.

The players union will file a grievance on Andersen's behalf, which is
protocol for any suspended player. The hearing will be heard by an
independent arbitrator.

This season, Andersen's second with the Hornets, he averaged 5.0 points and
4.8 rebounds per game compared to 7.7 and 6.1 in 2004. He also missed 10
games because of illness or injury this season.

Andersen was a fan favorite in Oklahoma City, just as he was in New Orleans,

6-foot-10 Andersen earned the nickname "Birdman" because of his impressive
leaping ability; after each of his dunks, Andersen made a hand gesture that
resembled a bird flapping its wings.

Andersen's best game this season was against Memphis on Dec. 18, when he
scored 10 points, including four dunks, and had nine rebounds.

Andersen, who was not drafted, signed a four-year contract extension worth
$14 million with the Hornets last summer. He played three seasons for the
Nuggets before coming to New Orleans.

Andersen is the first player kicked out of the NBA because of drugs since

P.J. Brown, 36, starts at center, though his natural position is power

Last week, Scott said the team was in the market for another reserve center.

The Hornets are under the salary cap, which will help them in trade talks
during the coming month. The trading deadline is Feb. 23. The Hornets are
20-22 entering tonight's game.
黃蜂目前仍在薪資上限之下..因此可以有助於在接下來的一個月的交易.
交易的期限是2/23. 目前黃蜂戰績是20勝22敗..
