Monty Williams pushing for Omer Asik's return for next season
In their first-round playoff series against Golden State, Pelicans starting
center Omer Asik failed to raise his level of play from the regular season.
在鵜鶘季後賽第一輪對抗勇士的系列賽，鵜鶘的先發中鋒Asik並沒有表現出他在例行賽時
的水準。
For the four games, Asik didn't get a block and totaled just eight points.
Without Asik emerging, the Warriors, who swept the series in four games, had
little trouble scoring in the lane when their 3-point shooting opportunities
were taken away.
這四場比賽，Asik沒有半個阻攻，總計只得8分。Asik在場上時並沒能有效的鞏固禁區，若

Still, coach Monty Williams considers Asik highly valued, a player they intend
to make a strong push to re-sign this summer despite his inconsistent play
throughout the series against the Warriors.

"As far as Omer, he's a huge part of what we do," Williams said during his
end-of-the season news conference Tuesday. "If you look at our defensive
numbers from last year to this year, we improved in a number of categories and
Omer was a huge part of that."

Asik will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, along with top backup
center Alexis Ajinca and seldom-used reserve center Jeff Withey. But Asik,
7-foot, 255 pounds, was one of the highest-paid players on the Pelicans' roster
, earning $14.8 million but only $8.3 million counted against of the Pelicans'
salary cap because of the trade deal involving the Houston Rockets last summer.

As part of the deal for Asik, the Pelicans also lost their protected
first-round pick because they ended the season slotted at 18th based on their
45-37 record. The only way the Pelicans would have retained their first-round
pick was if they would have been able to select at Nos. 1-3 or 20-30.

But Williams said Asik's impact was big enough in the regular season to help
the team improve drastically from last season. During the regular season, Asik
averaged 7.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 0.7 blocks.

In the playoffs, however, he averaged a team-low 2.0 points and 7.3 rebounds.
He also played limited in the fourth quarters throughout the series when the
Warriors went with a small lineup.
而在季後賽，他只有平均每場2分，7.3籃板的低迷表現。且為了對付勇士在第四節時使用
的矮小陣容，Asik在關鍵第四節時的上場機會也被嚴重壓縮。
"He was one of the guys that helped us get stops," Williams said. "He was
really good at guarding and blocking shots and it makes our defense that much
better. Early on, it didn't look like it and I'll be the first to admit that.
But it takes time to figure out schemes. The other thing is that we had the
toughest schedule in the league up until January I think and I think we were
in the top five."

心得：不知道Monty是真的對Asik有如此高的評價或是有部分是溢美之詞，
但整體看起來他應該是很想把Asik留下，
不過Asik除了薪資頗高，在面對小球戰術為主的球隊時似乎很容易吃癟，
對勇士的四場就是個證明。
球隊若要留下Asik，應該也要有相應的對策來應付小球戰術，
Asik在場上時我不確定還有沒有辦法還是就只能把他換下去，
但把他換下去的代價可能就是防守和籃板優勢丟失，
G3就是狂丟籃板最後被大逆轉...
