在Yahoo的 Big Leageurs.com 上，Jason Kendall寫了一篇文章 Jason Kendall: Pirates can play By JASON KENDALL We expect a lot of ourselves on the Pirates but around the league there's not a lot expected of us. Hopefully, we can use that to our advantage and go out and surprise some people. We have a full mix of guys on this club. Some very young guys, some guys with two or three years' experience and a few veterans. But it's a good mix. We all seem to be on the same page and we have good chemistry. If you ask anybody in baseball, the game revolves around pitching and we have pitchers who are capable of doing big things. We're going to rely on them pretty heavily and scratch and claw to get some runs. We need to do the little things like bunt and hit-and-run and basically bust our butts on a daily basis. It's time for us on the pitching staff -- and I include myself when I speak about the pitching staff -- to start getting results. We're past the point where guys are going to be sheltered with labels like "young" or "inexperienced." It's time to get things done. The talent is there with Kris Benson, Kip Wells, Josh Fogg, Ryan Vogelsong and Oliver Perez in the rotation and a nice mix of veteran and young arms in the bullpen. OK, maybe we don't have the top name pitchers the Cubs and Astros and some of the other teams, but these guys are capable of performing on that same level as those better-known guys. It's our job as a staff to get to that level. For us to contend, a lot has to go right. We only have a couple guys who can hit the ball out of the ballpark consistently, so we have to hit and run, play good fundamental baseball and do the little things. We also have to stay injury free. It's hard. Look at the teams that win every year and one thing you notice is that they're relatively injury free. So we have to stay healthy. Now, are we good enough? I don't see why not. Everybody at this level of the game is good but we have to stay together with all of us on one page. The good news is that, so far, I think we're beginning to go about our business that way. Personally, I guess it's surprising news for some people out there that I'm still here on the Pirates. I've been rumored to be traded so many times in the past eight years that it's unbelievable. But rumors are rumors until something happens. So I go out and enjoy playing the game and try to separate from the business part.
