[情報] Pirates agree with Maholm on multi-year deal
PITTSBURGH (TICKER) —The Pittsburgh Pirates avoided salary arbitration with
pitcher Paul Maholm on Friday, agreeing to terms with the lefthander on a
multi-year contract.
According to multiple reports, Maholm's deal is for three years and worth $14.5
million.
Maholm, 26, was one of the few bright spots for the 95-loss Pirates last season
as he went 9-9 with a 3.71 ERA in 31 starts.
A 2003 first-round pick, Maholm is 30-35 with a 4.30 ERA in 96 career starts,
all with the Pirates.
The Pirates also are reportedly close to finalizing a one-year contract with
free-agent infielder Eric Hinske, who hit .247 with 20 homers and 60 RBI for
Tampa Bay last season.
Hinske's numbers have steadily declined since he won Rookie of the Year honors
with Toronto in 2002.
