From:http://0rz.tw/1f23h Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez get national attention because they play for the New York Yankees, but Michael Young is more highly regarded in the 2006 Elias Player Rankings. According to the rankings, which are issued at the end of the season and used to determine free agent compensation, Young was the highest-ranked player among American League second basemen, shortstops and third basemen. Jeter was second, and Rodriguez was third. Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero was the only other offensive player ranked higher in the American League. The Rangers are more concerned about where their free agents are ranked and, as expected, outfielders Gary Matthews Jr. and Carlos Lee are ranked as Type A free agents, and outfielder Mark DeRosa and catcher Rod Barajas are Type B free agents.
