A meeting at owner Tom Hicks' house on Tuesday night was one of the highlights for Trey Hillman as he interviewed for the Rangers managerial opening. Hillman, an Arlington native who served as director of player development for the Rangers in 2002, spent Tuesday afternoon with general manager Jon Daniels and his assistant Thad Levine in Arlington, then had dinner with Hicks, his son Tom Jr. and Daniels in Dallas. He is the first of four candidates who have interviewed for the Rangers' skipper position to meet with Hicks. 星期二晚上，HILLMAN在老闆家面試，又再度提到他的背景，是相當適合擔任教練職務的，這是Rangers第四次的教練面試～也是四個面試者中第一次教練和老闆的面試 "I think that had a lot to do with my unique travel circumstances," said Hillman, who is scheduled to interview with the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday and the San Diego Padres on Thursday. Hillman, who led the Nippon Ham Fighters to the Japan Series championship last week, is scheduled to return to Japan on Friday. "I enjoyed my time with J.D. and Thad very much," Hillman said Wednesday morning before boarding a flight to Oakland. "These guys are very organized, and they are very detailed. They have a real good idea of where they want to go. J.D. is really sincere about wanting to build something strong here and build it quickly." He will be the fifth and final candidate interviewed to replace Buck Showalter, who was let go at the end of the season. Hillman said he was fortunate that the Fighters allowed him to leave Japan to interview for these positions face-to-face instead of over the telephone. Hillman has to be back for an All-Star game on Sunday and to manage the Fighters in the Asian Games on Nov. 12. "I told Mr. Hicks that I didn't like my chances if I don't get to meet face-to-face with them," Hillman said. "Regardless of what happens over the next 72 hours, this has been a wonderful experience getting to meet with three Major League organizations.
