[外電]Mayberry scorching hot in Hawaii
Hawaii truly has been a tropical paradise for John Mayberry. After hitting
.268 with Class A Clinton, the 22-year-old Stanford product is tearing apart
Hawaii Winter Baseball competition, hitting .371 with a .426 on-base
percentage and slugging at a .629 clip.
This week was no exception as the son of the former Royals first baseman hit
.500 (9-for-18) with a home run, three doubles and six RBIs. Mayberry did
strike out five times and was caught stealing on Nov. 8.

While Mayberry is busy battering HWB pitchers for West Oahu, here is how the
other Texas farmhands are faring in the various fall and winter leagues.
West Oahu CaneFires: Hawaii Winter Baseball
C Emerson Frostad -- Frostad went 1-for-10 with a walk in his last three
games, dropping his average to .245.
SS Jose Vallejo -- Vallejo went 1-for-10 for the week to drop his average to
.186 with 16 strikeouts in 18 games. The 20-year-old Dominican ripped a
two-run triple against the North Shore Honu during a 10-4 win on Nov. 4.
3B John Whittleman -- Whittleman went 3-for-15 with a double, two walks and
two RBIs.
Grand Canyon Rafters: Arizona Fall League
RHP Jesse Ingram -- In 10 1/3 innings, the 24-year-old right-hander has given
up 13 runs on 13 hits, including two home runs and six walks. Ingram
committed an error while blowing a save during a 3-2 loss to the Peoria
Saguaros.
LHP John Koronka -- After going two games and eight innings without fanning a
batter, Koronka struck out two in four innings on Nov. 3. The 26-year-old
left-hander is still searching for his first fall win.
3B Travis Metcalf -- Metcalf started three games for the Rafters this week
and went 3-for-12 with three doubles and an RBI.
C Kevin Richardson -- The 26-year-old backstop went 2-for-6 with four RBIs
this week. In 12 games, Richardson is batting .265 with nine RBIs, but is
still looking for his first home run after hitting 17 with Double-A Frisco.
RHP Danny Touchet -- Touchet yielded a run on three hits over three innings
in three appearances.
OF Anthony Webster -- Webster went 6-for-16 in five starts, collecting two
RBIs and two stolen bases.
Dominican Winter League
RHP Omar Beltre: Azucareros del Este -- Did not play this week.
SS Enrique Cruz: Leones del Escogido -- Did not play this week.
OF Freddy Guzman: Leones del Escogido -- Did not play this week.
LHP Derek Lee: Aguilas Cibaenas -- Did not play this week.
Mexican Pacific League (LMP)
RHP Michael Bumstead: Caneros de los Mochis -- Bumstead was roughed up on
Nov. 2 by Tomateros de Culiacan. He surrendered five runs on seven hits in 4
1/3 innings. He is 0-2 with a 9.98 ERA.
RHP Nick Masset: Venados de Mazatlan -- The 24-year-old gave up a run on
three hits on Nov. 4 against Navojoa. He tossed a scoreless frame four days
later against Hermosillo.
Venezuelan Winter League
2B Aarom Baldiris: Navegantes del Magallanes -- Baldiris appeared in one game
this week as a pinch-hitter and scored a run against Cardenales de Lara.
1B Nate Gold: Leones del Caracas -- Gold went 3-for-5 in two games.
SS Juan Gonzalez: Aguilas del Zulia -- Did not play this week.
OF Ben Harrison: Caribes de Oriente -- Harrison went 2-for-4 with a double
and three RBIs on Nov. 2 against Lara. He went 1-for-16 in his next four
games, including an 0-for-12 skid before delivering an RBI single on Nov. 7
against Aragua.
RHP Jon Leicester: Leones del Caracas -- In his one outing this week,
Leicester was tagged for four runs on three hits and a walk in two innings on
Nov. 4 against Tiburones de La Guaria.
OF Ruddy Yan - Azucareros del Este -- Did not play this week.
