前幾天的外電~~現在還是貼一下給大夥看~
ARLINGTON --
The Rangers have added to their catching depth by acquiring
catcher Chris Stewart from the Chicago White Sox for Minor League pitcher
Johnny Lujan.
To make room for Stewart on the 40-man roster, the Rangers have designated
infielder Drew Meyer for assignment. The Rangers have 10 days to trade Meyer,
release him or put him through outright waivers to send him to Triple-A
Oklahoma.
Stewart appeared in 89 games for Triple-A Charlotte and batted .265 with four
home runs and 29 RBIs. He has appeared in 390 career Minor League games and
has batted .252 with 19 home runs and 136 RBIs. He set career highs in 2005
with Double-A Birmingham with a .286 average, 11 home runs and 51 RBIs.
He was hitless in eight at-bats as a September callup for the White Sox.
He will compete with Miguel Ojeda and Guillermo Quirez for a job as backup
catcher to Gerald Laird.
Lujan appeared in 38 games for Class A Bakersfield last year and went 1-4,
5.74 with four saves. He was originally drafted in the 15th round of the 2004
June First-Year Player Draft and has gone 7-9, 3.68 in nine saves in 83
career games.
Meyer, the Rangers No. 1 draft pick in 2002, made his Major League debut with
the Rangers in 2006, appearing in five games and batting .214 (3-14). He
spent the remainder of the season with Triple-A Oklahoma where he batted .228
with two home runs and 28 RBIs in 95 games.
