[情報] Rangers RHP Hurley to miss 2009 season
ARLINGTON, TEXAS (TICKER) —Texas Rangers pitcher Eric Hurley, the team's
first-round pick in the 2004 draft, will miss the entire 2009 season after
undergoing rotator cuff surgery Wednesday.
The Rangers’minor league pitcher of the year in 2006, Hurley made his major
league debut last season. He was 1-2 with a 5.47 ERA in five starts before
missing the second half of the year with inflammation in his right shoulder.
Hurley, 23, had an injection in August but the shoulder never recovered, and
surgery became the only option.
“We were hopeful that rehab would allow Eric to avoid surgery,”Rangers
general manager Jon Daniels said.“Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way.
I thought he could have impacted our club this year, but with the proper
program, that should be realistic for the following season.”
Hurley will begin a throwing program in 12 to 16 weeks.
