Hamilton begins baseball activities
Josh Hamilton played catch on Tuesday for the first time since having surgery
last week to repair a partial tear in his abdominal muscle. It's the first
time he has done any baseball activities.
"It was about 70 feet and it felt good," Hamilton said. "They want me to take
it slow with my throwing but it's not like I lost a lot in my arm."
Hamilton is expected to be out until the All-Star break although he's hoping
to be back sooner than that. He is still holding out hope of playing in the
All-Star game and he is still second among American League outfielders in the
latest update of the fans voting.
"Obviously I'm not worried about that," Hamilton said. "My goal is to get
back as soon as possible without any setbacks. If I can do that before the
All-Star break, that's my goal."
Francisco throws: Frank Francisco, on the disabled list with a strained right
shoulder, threw in the bullpen on Tuesday without any problems.
Asked how his shoulder felt, Francisco said, "Money."
The next step is a rehabilitation assignment beginning Thursday, most likely
at Double A Frisco.
Draft picks sign: The Rangers have signed nine more draft picks including
outfielder Braxton Lane (seventh round), pitcher Braden Tullis (eighth
round), pitcher Justin Jamison (13th round) and pitcher Keith Campbell (15th
round). The Rangers have signed 14 of 51 draft picks.
