[情報] Rangers 2B Kinsler suffers ankle sprain
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler has a high right ankle
sprain and will be sidelined for at least a week.
Kinsler slipped on some wet grass during warm-ups Friday morning and rolled
the ankle. He felt fine on Friday, but the diagnosis was made after Dr. Keith
Meister, the team physician, examined the ankle.
"I will be ready to play, but I'm not going to put a timetable on it,"
Kinsler said. "I'll be playing games before we leave spring training."
Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine said the club will know more in
a week about Kinsler's recovery time.
Kinsler, 27, has had a stint on the disabled list in all four seasons of his
big-league career. Last season, he missed 11 games with a strained left
hamstring, suffered when he ran out a ground ball on July 28 against Detroit.
He was out for the final 42 games in 2008 when a sports hernia ended his
season in August.
Kinsler hit .253 with 31 homers and 86 RBIs in 144 games for the Rangers in
2009. He hit for the cycle on April 15, 2009, going 6-for-6 as he wore No. 42
on Jackie Robinson Day.
Kinsler became just the second Rangers player to have at least 30 homers and
30 stolen bases in a season (Alfonso Soriano was the other).
Kinsler played in the All-Star Game in 2008, hitting .319 with 18 homers and
71 RBIs in 121 games that season.
He is slated to hit fifth in the order in 2010, behind Vladimir Guerrero.
