[情報] Minor league coaching staffs announced
Former major league players Storm Davis and Casey Candaele are among the new
additions to the Rangers' minor league coaching staffs for next season.
Here's the news release:
The Texas Rangers today announced the managers, coaches, and staff for all
minor league affiliates in 2011. Among the new staff members are former major
leaguers Storm Davis and Casey Candaele, along with former Rangers farmhand
Corey Ragsdale. The club has promoted Jason Wood to manager at High-A Myrtle
Beach, and Brad Holman has been promoted to be his pitching coach.
Davis will be pitching coach at Low-A Hickory in his first year in the Texas
organization. He has recently spent time as a coach for The Bolles Academy in
Jacksonville, Fla., which won the Class 3A state championship each of the
past two years. Davis was born in Dallas but went to high school in Florida.
In his big league career, he went 113-96 with a 4.02 ERA in 442 games/239
starts with Baltimore (1982-86, 1992), San Diego (1987), Oakland (1987-89,
1993), Kansas City (1990-91), and Detroit (1993-94). He was pitched on three
World Series clubs, including two winners: the 1983 Orioles and 1989
Athletics.
Candaele, a former big league utility player, has been hired as a Special
Assignment Coach. He will be working with infielders throughout the system,
and instructing all players on baserunning and bunting. Candaele batted .250
in 754 games over a 9-year big league career with Montreal (1986-88), Houston
(1988, 1990-93), and Cleveland (1996-97).
Ragsdale will serve as a coach at Low-A Hickory. Originally a second round
selection by New York-NL in the 2001 June draft, he spent 7 years in the Mets
organization (2001-07) before 2 years in the Texas system (2008-09). He began
his career as a middle infielder, but was converted to a pitcher for his last
2 professional seasons.
Additionally, the club has hired Mike LaCassa, who will serve as Player
Development Administration - Arizona Operations. LaCassa spent the past year
as a baseball operations and player development intern based at the club’s
complex in Surprise, Ariz. The Glenview, Ill. native graduated from the
University of Illinois in 2008 and spent a year-and-a-half with the Milwaukee
organization in 2008-09.
