Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with stiffness in his lower back. Andrus was scheduled to make the trip to Tempe for the game against the Angels but stayed back in Surprise. He did take batting practice without problem. Adrian Beltre (strained calf muscle) has started running the bases and continues to progress. The last hurdle will be how he does on "quick reaction" plays. That is still to come. Tanner Scheppers (strained lower back) will get a root nerve injection on Wednesday that should help alleviate the discomfort. He is throwing on flat ground. Brandon Webb is scheduled to throw to live hitters on Wednesday and Neftali Feliz pitches in a game, his first outing since getting hit in the left leg with a line drive while throwing live batting practice.
