Oakland removes two Rangers' roadblocks As Oakland again tears down its major-league roster and brings in prospects, the Athletics have rid the American League West of two starting pitchers whom the Texas Rangers least like to face. Oakland followed the earlier deal of righthander Trevor Cahill to Arizona by shipping lefthander Gio Gonzalez to Washington on Thursday. Both have had success against the Rangers. Cahill is 9-4 with a 2.75 ERA for 15 career starts against the Rangers. Catcher Mike Napoli is likely glad to see Cahill leave the American League. Napoli is 1-for-18 lifetime against Cahill. Gonzalez is 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA for eight career starts against the Rangers.Outfielder Nelson Cruz is hltless in 10 career at-bats against Gonzalez. The Rangers could run into Cahill once in the coming season, during a three-game series against the Diamondbacks at home on June 12-14.
