條子撿了33歲防守型捕手Eli Whiteside
“We have always heard very good things about Whiteside’s ability to catch
and throw and particularly to work with the staff,” general manager Jon
Daniels said. “We’re not necessarily done looking at the catching area, but
we’re very comfortable he can handle the backup role.”

Whiteside, 33, is considered a quality receiver with limited offensive
skills. He has hit only .215 in 489 career major-league at-bats with
Baltimore and San Francisco.
Whiteside spent most of this season in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League as
the Giants went with the younger Hector Sanchez as the backup to Buster
Posey. Whiteside held the baackup role in 2010-11, and the staff had a 3.38
ERA in 924 1/3 innings with him catching.
Whiteside在金鳥和巨人的489場大聯盟比賽只繳出了0.215的打擊率，今年幾乎都待在3A，
