The question now is whether Carter will play for the team next season. While new general manager Rob Babcock says he doesn't want to trade the 27-year-old all-star and Carter has not publicly demanded a deal, there are whispers around the NBA that a trade is something not to be entirely discounted. At the Chicago pre-draft camp and at the NBA Finals, Carter's future in Toronto is open for discussion and, for the first time, the prospect of the Raptors at least exploring options is real. No league sources have said Carter has even privately intimated that he wants out of Toronto, but there are suggestions he's less than pleasedwith Erving not getting a Raptors front office job. Babcock and Carter have yet to have their first serious discussion and Babcock said Monday that no player is untouchable. That a significant change in a Raptor organization that has bent over backwards to make its resident superstar feel wanted and happy. Carter said the day after the regular season ended that he was prepared to have his name bandied about in serious trade talks for the first time since he joined the Raptors in 1999. Trading Carter is no easy task, given his salary of about $13 million (U.S.) and his diminishing reputation in some circles around the league. And it would be folly for Carter to publicly demand a deal because that would not only lessen the chance Babcock would get fair value in return, it would paint Carter as a selfish player. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.229.181.75 ※ 編輯: illuvive 來自: 61.229.181.75 (06/19 13:22)
