[STAR]Sonics' Allen keen on Raptors
Sonics' Allen keen on Raptors
Sources say he'd like fit in Toronto
Up-tempo game suits coach's style

If the Raptors are in the mood to explore options for the apparently
disenchanted Vince Carter, there's an NBAer whiling away some time in the
Pacific Northwest who's interested in moving to Toronto.
According to a handful of sources, Ray Allen of the Seattle SuperSonics is
letting it be known he would welcome a trade to T.O. if the teams can work
out some sort of deal.
"He's interested in coming," said one source close to Allen. "He thinks it'd
be the right spot for him."
However, there is no sense the Raptors and Sonics have even had cursory
discussions about any player moves and Toronto general manager Rob Babcock
told the Star on Thursday he is in no rush to trade Carter.
The five-time all-star Raptor, through his agent Mark Steinberg and never
in his own words, has let it be known he would be open for a deal and
reports have said New York is one of his preferred destinations.
While that might be his preference, it's laughable to think Babcock would
take any player off the Knicks roster in return for Carter. The only Knick
that might pique his interest is point guard Stephon Marbury, who still has
more than $91 million (all figures U.S.) left on his exorbitant contract and
the chances of him becoming a Raptor are nil.
However, Allen presents an intriguing possibility as someone with close ties
to friends in Toronto from his days with the Milwaukee Bucks and someone who
has many of the same attributes as Carter.
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 23 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for the
Sonics last season, when he battled ankle injuries for about half the year.
He has the type of up-tempo game that would fit perfectly with the style new
coach Sam Mitchell wants the Raptors to play and he could share the court
with Jalen Rose and Rafer Alston in a high-powered backcourt.
Allen is due to make about $14.5 million this year on the last year of his
contract and his deal is worth enough that he could be traded for Carter
(about $12 million) with very little salary cap ballast having to be moved
to Seattle.
The Sonics have not made any public declaration about Allen's desire to be
moved, just as the Raptors kept Carter's request close to the vest until the
latter's agent went public.
One source said yesterday that Allen has hired an agent to help him deal with
Sonic management.
Previously, Allen broke with NBA tradition and negotiated his own contract
extension with the Bucks, hiring a lawyer to look over the final papers.
Seattle and Toronto are no strangers to trade talks.
At last February's NBA trade deadline, the Sonics pushed hard to obtain
Raptor power forward Donyell Marshall but offered nothing worthwhile in return.
Allen, 29, was not involved in those talks.
Meanwhile, the Raptors are now planning to wait until Tuesday to announce
they've signed free agent centre Loren Woods to a non-guaranteed contract.
Woods, who has spent three undistinguished seasons split between Minnesota
and Miami, is due in Toronto for a physical Monday.
If he passes, his signing will then be announced.
The Raptors have offered the 7-foot-2 centre no guarantees he'll even make
the team.

簡單來說就是有"很多"消息指出 (原文是用"handful")
Ray Allen 覺得來多倫多打球會很適合他
所以如果他被換過來 他會很高興的來多倫多打球
然後文章末有另一個消息是如果禮拜一
Loren Wood通過了我們的體能測試
我們會再禮拜二跟他簽non-guaranteed contract
