Vince Carter will report to the Raptors training camp on time. According to two league sources yesterday, Carter already is in Toronto and is prepared to make a punctual arrival at camp. The sources indicated Carter, the Raptors' marquee player, never even remotely considered holding out. This despite the fact Carter has asked to be traded, both privately and publicly. "I don't know how those rumours got started that Vince might not show up for camp," one of the sources said. "This is Vince's job. "You may have issues with your employer, but you still are getting paid to perform. You might not be happy about everything, but you still show up for work every day. That's what Vince is going to do. There never was any question he would do anything different." The Raptors will have their annual media day on Monday, with practices set to begin on Tuesday morning at Brock University in St. Catharines. They'll be at Brock for a week before reconvening at the Air Canada Centre. The Raptors have not made the playoffs the past two seasons and strong rumours began to circulate last spring that Carter had asked to be dealt. A series of non-denials from Carter basically confirmed what everyone suspected, and then Carter removed all doubt last month when he stated bluntly in a newspaper article that he does not want to play for the Raptors anymore. Subsequently, questions arose in basketball circles about just how disgruntled Carter is, and how far he would be willing to take things in terms of withholding his services. But according to the two sources, Carter fully accepts that he is contractually obligated to the Raptors, his trade request notwithstanding. "He'll be there and he'll do his best," one of the sources said. "There's no doubt." It is debatable how hard the Raptors are trying to trade Carter, if in fact they are trying at all. Raptors general manager Rob Babcock has said repeatedly he does not want to deal Carter, but if a trade ever were seriously considered, it clearly would have to be in the best interests of the club. Raptors coach Sam Mitchell acknowledged this week that it's his firm hope Carter will become enthused by the new coaching staff's approach fairly early in camp. 大意就是說 VC人已經在多倫多準備training camp的事情 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 24.156.75.233
