看起來給他有點......不真實....... Jose and Sarunas are two prototypical European Point guards among many. However in Europe, growing up we watch the NBA while being coached and although it is not taught through the coaches it is seen on tv and in the olympics what basketball looks like on the greatest stage on earth. Rob avidly provided Roko with Game tape ( based on my sources) of Raptor Basketball. Roko himself grew up idolizing the greats of his own country like Tony Kukoc, however at the same time idolizing some american superstars who had " excitment" in their games. Roko is of that mold. Here is my BEST attempt at providing a scouting report on him for those who have no been privilaged enough to see him play. His game consists of dazzle, pizzaz, showmanship, excitment, all of the qualities currently possesed by one, Tony Parker of the SA Spurs. He is a scorer, who like Parker must refine his jump shooting skills, yet his stress on fundemental basketball is not like that of say a Jose Calderon. He is about show, he is about getting the crowd going, yet this is not a rucker park punk going one on one, but more of a fan favourite who has a tendency to pull off the tpye of plays which leave you sitting in awe, watching replay after replay. He is a fluid athelte who is an exception to the " white men can't jump rule." He is long, making him a big BIG time defensive stopper at this level, (as shown by his work outs in 2004) He posseses excellent ball skills, including court vision,speed, quickness, agility, and one very very very dirty handle which if trained could turn into something very dangerous. The big guard effect played in for Marko Jaric, Shaun Livingston, Magic Johnson and even Jalen Rose when he played the point. The advantage of being able to see over your defender is a complete advantage. however in the case of a magic, Jaric, and even Rose, they were all poor individual defenders, where is Livingston seems unable to get any sort of consistancy going. All he is right now is flashes of potential. What you have in Roko right now is not potential alone. It is substance. He can step in currently in the NBA and have a 10/6/3 type season. His weakness lies in his lack of upper body strength. He has a nice wingspan for a PG, and amazing quickness, but he is as light as a feather, and even weaker to boot. Thus he rarly ever goes to the rim and finishes, prefering rather to pass before getting into contact with the other teams player and creating an open shot for his team mates. All I can say is.. Roko Leni Ukic is better than every PG coming out in the 2006 NBA draft including Marcus Williams. He has a valid chance ( considering he's a gym rat) to eventually mold himself into a top 3 PG in his draft class.... mind you.. a draft class which included.. 3 point guards.. in the top 5..
