SEATTLE, April 19 (Ticker) -- Ray Allen's record-breaking performance had
Seattle SuperSonics' fans chanting for more.
Allen scored 27 points and set the NBA's single-season record for 3-pointers
to lead the SuperSonics to a 109-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Making 7-of-13 from the arc, Allen finished the campaign with 269 3-pointers,
breaking the mark set by Dennis Scott in 1995-1996. He raised his career
total to 1,755, second on the all-time list behind Reggie Miller.
"I've had shots to win games, but nothing felt like this tonight," Allen
said. "It was special. If there was a perfect ending to this up-and-down
season, then this was it."
Allen sank five 3-pointers in the first quarter and scored 20 points in the
opening half to help Seattle take a 55-35 lead.
"There was a part of me that wanted him to get it, but he got it quicker than
I wanted it to be," said Nuggets coach George Karl, who coached Allen with
Milwaukee. "He's a great shooter and they were obviously going after the
record very quickly. I have a feeling he'll break it again next year."
"I'm so used to seeing Ray do things like that," Denver center Reggie Evans
said. "It was no surprise to me. He usually does it late in the game, but
tonight he came out and did a nice job of knocking it down."
With Allen on the bench in the fourth quarter, Denver began to chip away at
the lead. However, he was re-inserted into the lineup with 4:20 left after
fans chanted, "We want Ray!"
"That was just incredible what he did," Seattle coach Bob Hill said. "I was
happy for him. But it was so big, it kind of took a little juice away from
the game. I thought the fans brought that back a little bit and I wasn't
going to argue with them a that point."
Rashard Lewis and Luke Ridnour scored 15 points each and Earl Watson added 14
off the bench for the SuperSonics (35-47), who forced 25 turnovers and made
25-of-27 free throws.
Playing without Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin, the Nuggets
(44-38) dropped their fourth straight game. The Northwest Division champions
open the playoffs Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
"I love our chances," said Camby, who led the league in blocked shots. "I
think we have a team assembled that can win it all. No one is really giving
us a shot. Everyone is talking about San Antonio, Dallas and the Detroit
Pistons - and the other 13 teams in the playoffs aren't worth anything. I
think we have the team that can get the job done."
