Tampa Bay (no longer Devil) Rays All-Decade Team http://tinyurl.com/yaqtxny All-Decade Team終於更新到光芒了，粗淺翻譯一下有錯請幫指正:) Playing in the "Payroll Division" of the American League East, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays greatest accomplishment came in 2004 when they finished fourth in the division rather than last. Needless to say there weren't many highlights, but plenty of lowlights. But then the team changed their name and came through with one of the sport's greatest Cinderella stories winning the division in 2008. They continued their success in the postseason beating the White Sox in the ALDS and their arch-rival, the Boston Red Sox, in an exciting seven-game series to make it to the World Series (where we gave everyone 23 reasons to root for them) before falling to Philadelphia. Ben Zobrist played every defensive position except for catcher in 2009, and despite having to bring a new glove to the field every day, "Zorilla" always brought his bat slugging 27 homers and driving in 91 RBI. Though he didn't put up tremendous numbers in 2008, his defensive presence got him awarded team MVP honors. He followed that up with an All-Star season scoring 90 runs, hitting 14 home runs, and driving in 66 runs while being pesky on the basepaths swiping 30 bases. The "Dirtbag" burst onto the scene with 27 homers, 31 doubles, and 85 RBI after being called up 10 games into the season when Willy Aybar got injured. Those numbers earned him an All-Star selection and the Rookie of the Year award. Unfortunately, Crawford was the only one to ascend to his full ability in Tampa as Hamilton and Baldelli ran into life and injury issues. CC, on the other hand, essentially became Mr. Devil Ray. In eight full seasons, Crawford has just filled up the stat sheets averaging 90 runs, 25 doubles, 12 triples, 12 homers, 67 RBI, and 50 stolen bases while batting .305. Upton Rocco Baldelli and B.J. Upton's numbers over their three fullest seasons in Tampa are nearly identical. Per 162 games, they are divided by two runs, one double, one home run, nine RBI, three OPS points, and only one OPS+ point. Baldelli does have a batting average that is 12 points higher, but Upton gets the nod because he stole 108 bases over the three year span. Upton also has been one of the best defensive centerfielders in the league ranging for balls all over the place. His seven home runs, 16 RBI, and six stolen bases without getting caught during the '08 playoff run doesn't hurt either. 中外野手-B.J. Upton 由Rocco Baldelli以及B.J. But he was quite impressive, particularly from 2002 to 2005 when he batted .295 and averaged 31 doubles, 27 homers, and 90 RBI. Huff even garnered MVP votes in '03 when he was just two hits shy of 200 and finished with 84 extra-base hits, including 34 homers. He also finished with 107 RBI and a career-high .311 batting average. He gave his all to the team whether it was during his rookie season when he swatted 21 homers and drove in 54 runs while hitting a career best .282 with a .906 OPS earning him third place in the Rookie of the Year voting or when he was on the bottom of the pile throwing haymakers at Red Sox and Yankees. Even when he wasn't on the playoff roster in '08, Gomes still earned our respect (and our MVPNOPR - #11) with his contagious energy and craziness. Despite pitching against a couple of the strongest offenses in the league every year, "Kid K" amassed a 3.51 ERA and struck out 742 batters in only 689.2 innings. Four times he compiled double-digit win totals, and he led the league with 239 strikeouts in 2007. Shields has been the ace for the past two seasons even with Kazmir and Garza on the staff. Take away a 6-8 rookie season and Shields is 37-28 with a 3.85 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He was crucial to the Rays' playoff success compiling a 2.88 ERA and two wins, including Tampa's only win in the World Series. Therefore, Tampa Bay decided to try him out in the bullpen. He has since become one of the best relievers in baseball and a key factor in the '08 Rays success going 6-1 with a 2.22 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP while striking out 9.3 batters per nine innings and allowing only four of 39 inherited runners to score. With no consistent closer healthy in 2009, Howell took over the closer duties and collected 17 saves. He once again posted a sub-3.00 ERA (2.84) and more than a strikeout per inning (10.7 K/9). 中繼投手- J.P. Howell 生涯球季前三年以先發投手的身分在大聯盟闖蕩的J.P.
