新聞...Nomar回來之後...

For all the recent debate about how the lineup should shake out when Nomar
Garciaparra makes his highly-anticipated return (most likely early next week),
the man who will have the biggest impact on those decisions was able to
simplify it the best out of anyone.
"We're basically going to have four guys for three positions," manager Terry
Francona said. "When Nomar comes back you're going to have Nomar, [Kevin]
Youkilis, [Mark] Bellhorn and Pokey [Reese]."
The reason this has become such a big issue is because Youkilis, Bellhorn and
Reese have all done terrific jobs picking up the slack.
Reese with defense that has been even better than advertised at short; And
rookie Youkilis and veteran Bellhorn displaying the type of on-base
capabilities reserved for Moneyball worshippers.
Here's the deal. None of those three players will suddenly turn into
full-fledged reserves. Francona will keep everyone involved with a rotation
system.
Garciaparra, returning from right Achilles tendinitis, is not going to play a
marathon stretch of consecutive games right off the bat.
"I think there are going to be days when Nomar needs to DH or maybe not needs
to but maybe we want him to, to keep his bat," said Francona. "Play Pokey at
short, Bellhorn at second and Youkilis at third."
When Garciaparra is at short, you'll see either Reese or Bellhorn at second.
Reese is a two-time Gold Glover at that position, while Bellhorn's defense has
been steadier than expected.
And there will also be days Reese plays second, Bellhorn plays third and
Youkilis is out of the lineup.
"This year, I've kind of been playing one [position], but I've done it my whole
career playing everywhere so it's nothing new for me," said Bellhorn.
The switch-hitting Bellhorn was projected as a reserve when the Red Sox
acquired him from Colorado in December. But thrust into everyday duty, he's
been a horse. Entering Friday night's game in Kansas City, Bellhorn led the
Sox in runs (41) and walks (44). He also has a solid on-base percentage of .393.
One reason Francona will want to keep him in there as often as possible is that
Bellhorn has solidified the No. 2 spot in the batting order, backing Johnny
Damon to give the Sox a solid table-setting punch in front of bashers David
Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.
"Bellhorn has been fantastic," said Francona. "You don't want to have him out
of the lineup very often. I don't think it will hurt him to sit every once in
a while because he's played a lot. He's still going to play a lot. He deserves
to, he helps us win. He's been on base so much."
As for Reese, his main strength is keeping people off the bases. And he's done
that as well as anyone in the game.
"He's the best [middle infielder] I've ever played in front of," Sox
right-hander Curt Schilling said recently.
There are few defensive players in baseball who can change the course of a
game. Reese is one of them.
"It's hard to match anybody up with Pokey because he's so good defensively,"
said Francona.
Still, Reese understands that he could find himself out of the lineup a couple
of times a week when Garciaparra re-enters the mix.
"It's a team game here. When Nomar gets back it's his position," said Reese.
"I'm here to do whatever the Red Sox want me to do to help the team win. You
always want to be in there every day, be the guy to get the big hit. I just
have to do whatever is asked of me."
As for Youkilis, he's done more than the Red Sox would have dared to ask. He
was called to the Major Leagues on short notice on May 15 to fill in for ailing
third baseman Bill Mueller. All he did was crush a homer in his Major League
debut.
It didn't stop there, as the 25-year-old Youkilis has been a factor (.321
average, 16 runs, five doubles, .431 on-base percentage) on a nearly nightly
basis.
The big decision with Youkilis will come when Mueller returns to the lineup in
July. At that point, it's conceivable Youkilis could go back to Triple-A
Pawtucket so he doesn't rust up on the bench. Until then, he'll continue to
display a maturity at the plate that belies his age.
The simple fact is that these decisions are good ones for Francona to be
wrestling with. It means he has depth, which is far better than the alternative.
His main objective will be to make sure his players feel as if they know their
roles.
"I'll stay three or four days ahead, but we'll just see how it goes," said
Francona. "Things change so fast. Guys are hot, guys are not hot, guys feels
good, they don't feel good. They're all going to play a lot."
And with Garciaparra about to put his big bat in the lineup, the Red Sox will
obviously be a more dangerous team.
"I'm excited to have Nomar back, a player like that can definitely help this
team," said Bellhorn. "This guy has been an All-Star for seven years. As for
me, it's their decision. I've been playing every day and as a player you want
to play every day. And there are a lot of good players on the team so I'm sure
he'll put the lineup out there that's best for the team."
反正就是要用4個人打3個位置
先讓Nomar打DH...等他回到SS的時候在讓Bellhorn和Reese去橋
那....問一下...
Mueller什麼時候會回來啊??
