Ryan Howard, who leads the major leagues in home runs, is one of eight players
who will compete in the All-Star Home Run Derby next Monday.
The Phillies' Howard who has hit 28 home runs this season, will be joined by
Mets third baseman David Wright and Brewers slugging outfielder Carlos Lee on
the National League side.
The American League competitors will be led by Red Sox designated hitter David
Ortiz, who is second in the Junior Circuit with 26 homers. The White Sox's
Jermaine Dye and Toronto's Troy Glaus also will represent the AL.
Two more players, yet to be named, also will compete in the derby, which will be televised on ESPN.
