Drew's groin strain improving, Sunday return possible BALTIMORE -- J.D. Drew's left groin strain is improving, and the right fielder thinks he might be able to get back into game action Sunday. That said, with the team benefiting from an off-day Monday, if his health is at all questionable Drew might hold back in order to get an extended break and return healthy Tuesday. "With the day off, we don't want to screw that up. If you see him in there [Sunday], he's feeling really good," said manager Terry Francona. Drew injured the area while rounding first base during Thursday's game. He was tight Friday, but felt much improved Saturday when probing the muscle. "I've been trying to move around, try to get some blood going, just kind of seeing how it responds," he said. "I could still feel it a little bit just during exercises and stuff. I'm just trying to give it another day of rest to see how it responds, get up in the morning and make a decision. But, encouraged by the improvement from yesterday. It feels pretty good." Drew has been hot lately, hitting .440 over a seven-game hit streak before the injury. "It's aggravating. I feel like I was feeling good at the plate.
