[新聞] Smoltz clears waivers
老史完成 waiver 程序 (clear waiver)，取得棄權許可
星期日之前會決定要 1)交易、2)釋出、或是 3)下放小聯盟
BOSTON _ John Smoltz has reportedly cleared waivers and the Red Sox have
until Sunday to trade, release or send him to the minors.
The club designated him for assignment last Friday and management has had
some conversations with the veteran right-hander, who posted a 2-5 record
with an 8.23 ERA in eight starts for the Sox.
"You know what, nothing official, but there's been some communication," said
Red Sox manager Terry Francona.
Francona called the discussions normal even though there has been some
speculation the club is asking him to accept a minor-league assignment and
possible return to Boston as a reliever.
