Red Sox boss says Bobby Valentine will finish season

BOSTON -- Red Sox president Larry Lucchino said Thursday that manager Bobby
Valentine will not be fired this season.
In an interview Thursday on Boston radio station WEEI, Lucchino was asked by
host John Dennis whether Valentine would "unequivocally" remain as manager
for the rest of this season. Lucchino replied: "Yes."

Lucchino wouldn't go into detail about a meeting between players and
ownership in July, saying only that a Yahoo! Sports report that players were
calling for Valentine's ouster was "exaggerated and inaccurate."
The Red Sox entered Thursday 57-61. They likely would need to finish 32-12 or
better to have a shot at the playoffs.
"If that happens, we'll be talking about a comeback for the ages, so let's be
realistic about it," Lucchino told WEEI.
Lucchino said: "如果這發生了, 我們不就回到去年的情況?
