May 22 Updating previous reports, The Associated Press reports Cincinnati
Reds OF Josh Hamilton (illness) is scheduled to see a specialist Wednesday,
May 23, about his digestive tract problems, which have been termed
gastroenteritis. "With all of the pain he had last weekend, we thought it
would be best to be examined, see what the doctor says and go from there,"
manager Jerry Narron said. Hamilton's placement on the disabled list is
retroactive to May 19.
May 22 The Reds put Hamilton on the 15-day disabled list with
gastroenteritis(腸胃炎) on Tuesday. The move is retroactive to Saturday.
Advice: Hamilton, who made the Reds as a rookie after missing three years of
baseball because of crack cocaine and alcohol dependence, is batting .261
with eight homers and 18 RBIs in 37 games. The team has recalled Edwin
Encarnacion from Triple-A Louisville to start at third base, and Ryan Freel
will likely move from third base to the outfield.
