By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com 05/23/10 5:55 PM ET CLEVELAND -- Reds starting pitcher Homer Bailey exited his outing vs. the Indians on Sunday after only 2 1/3 innings because of tightness in his right shoulder. He will be evaluated on Monday in Cincinnati by team medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek. However, concern was at a minimum that Bailey might be out for an extended period. "We took him out for precautionary reasons. We think he'll be all right," Reds manager Dusty Baker said after the Reds' 4-3 loss. Bailey, 24, began the game by allowing two runs in the first inning on three hits and a walk while throwing 26 pitches. The second inning was much smoother, as the right-hander retired the side in order with only 13 pitches. The Cleveland third inning began with Shin-Soo Choo's triple off the left-field wall. Bailey followed by getting Travis Hafner to fly out to short left field, but showed signs of discomfort. That brought Baker out of the dugout with pitching coach Bryan Price and trainer Paul Lessard. Micah Owings was summoned from the bullpen for emergency long relief outing. "At the end of the second and the beginning of the third, I couldn't quite get loose," Bailey said. "Then when I was backing up third on Choo's triple, they saw me trying to stretch it out and stuff like that. I came out. I wanted to stay in the game, but they weren't going to let that happen." In nine starts this season, Bailey is 1-2 with a 5.51 ERA but had turned the corner in his previous two outings, where he had a 1.13 ERA and his first career shutout against the Pirates on May 12. Bailey was not worried about his injury -- the first involving his right shoulder. "If it was something serious, I might be," Bailey said. "It wasn't agonizing pain or anything like that. There was never one pitch where I felt something all of a sudden." Baker said it was too premature to speculate if Bailey would miss his next turn in the rotation. The Reds do have some options at Triple-A Louisville. However, they do not include Aroldis Chapman, who will miss his next start Monday because of a blister on his middle finger. Sam LeCure pitched a one-hit shutout on Saturday and is 5-2 with a 2.55 ERA this season. Matt Maloney is 4-1 with a 2.72 ERA and has big league experience. Travis Wood won his start on Sunday vs. Scranton/Wilkes Barre and is 2-4 with a 4.15 ERA. Bailey's short afternoon was the last thing a tired Reds bullpen needed as the club is only halfway through a 20-game stretch without a day off. Owings gave up Russell Branyan's sacrifice fly that scored Choo and escaped more damage after walking the bases loaded. Owings lasted 2 2/3 innings and threw 60 pitches. Daniel Ray Herrera and Carlos Fisher pitched the final three innings. If Bailey were to go on the disabled list, the Reds could call up a reliever to get them a fresh arm. Both Enerio Del Rosario (1.46 ERA) and Logan Ondrusek (2.65 ERA) are pitching well. Ondrusek started the season in the Majors. Baker said he would talk to general manager Walt Jocketty about the situation. 希望Bailey沒事..... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.244.86 ※ 編輯: a0184030 來自: 140.112.244.86 (05/24 08:43)
