Once Jeff Van Gundy started to talk, the words poured out. Words of anger
, words of frustration and words of resignation.
There were things he'd said before and things he'd wanted to say for a while
. There were things he hopes his players hear and things he wants the world
to know.
''It turns my stomach," he said. ''Frustration is not the right word. It'
s much stronger than that."
And?
''It's really hard to watch and be part of this," he said. ''It was just
passionless. It's the personality of our team."
And?
''We can get by all the excuses now. The injuries covered up all the problems
I knew we had. You don't need to be at full strength to know what you have
."
And?
''No response. Very little fight. No adjustment. No nothing. To play so uninspiring
when we should have been frothing at the mouth ... I so much want a team
that wants to play every day."
