Rockets extend qualifying offer to Courtney Lee http://tinyurl.com/7qlajbx The Rockets extended a $4.3 million qualifying offer to guard Courtney Lee on Friday, ensuring he will be a restricted free agent to allow the team to match any offer sheet he receives, a person with knowledge of the move said. Friday’s step was expected. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has said the team intends to keep Lee, 26, as a free agent, but he will be able to attract offers greater than the qualifying offer necessary to keep him a restricted free agent. The Rockets also will begin the process to sign last season’s first-round pick Donatas Motiejunas. Both are expected to be part of the Rockets summer league team, along with this season’s first-round selections, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb and Terrence Jones, last season’s top pick Marcus Morris and Motiejunas. Thursday’s trade for the draft rights to second-round pick Furkan Aldemir was completed, with the Rockets sending cash considerations to the Mavericks as part of their trade with the Jazz and Clippers.
