[情報] Rockies P Francis to have season-ending surgery
TUCSON, ARIZONA (TICKER) —Colorado Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis will undergo
season-ending shoulder surgery next week.
Francis announced his decision to have the exploratory operation at the
Rockies’spring training complex Thursday.
The Rockies said that team medical director Dr. Thomas Noonan will perform the
surgery, which will sideline Francis between six and 12 months.
“It is disappointing. But in the state I'm in, it's not fair to me, and it's
not fair to my team,”Francis told the Denver Post.“The chances of me
returning this season are remote.”
Francis, 28, decided to have the surgery after watching videotape of his latest
throwing session. Francis revealed that he noticed an adjusted arm angle during
the session.
“It just wasn't working, and I could see that,”said Francis, who told the
Post that he might have a torn labrum in the shoulder.
Francis endured a disappointing and injury-plagued 2008 campaign, going 4-10
with a 5.01 ERA in 24 starts. The British Columbia native enjoyed a breakout
2007 season, going 17-9 and serving as the ace for the National League champion
Rockies.
