[國外新聞]Royals finish two-game sweep of Tribe
CLEVELAND -- After a year of misfortune, the Royals' fortunes have changed at
Jacobs Field.
Jorge De La Rosa allowed two runs in five innings while the Royals put
together a balanced attack for a 6-2 win over the Indians Wednesday night.
The victory gives Kansas City a sweep of the two-game series, which began
with a 5-3 win Tuesday night that snapped an 11-game losing streak in
Cleveland.
The Royals knocked around Indians starter Jake Westbrook for four runs and 11
hits in six innings. KC also had three baserunners thrown out, including two
at home. Emil Brown's two-run homer in the seventh off Rafael Betancourt gave
the Royals, who stole a season-high four bases, some cushion.
The Royals scored two in the fourth on RBI singles by Ryan Shealy and Joey
Gathright. Esteban German, who had four hits Tuesday, doubled in a run in the
fifth while Gathright added an RBI fielder's choice in the sixth.
De La Rosa (3-2) left his last start against the Yankees on Sept. 5 in the
sixth inning with a blister on his left middle finger. He allowed both runs
in the third, with one coming on Grady Sizemore's home run. De La Rosa gave
up four hits, struck out three and walked three.
The Royals responded with two runs on four hits in the fourth. Singles by
Brown and Shane Costa started the inning. After Shealy's single drove in
Brown, Paul Bako sacrificed and Gathright's single drove in Costa. The inning
ended on an unusual double play. First baseman Ryan Garko fielded Andres
Blanco's ground ball, stepped on the bag and threw home where Shealy was cut
down trying to score.
David DeJesus led off the fifth with a single and scored on German's double
into the right-field corner. German was thrown out trying for third. The
Royals' chance for another run also was cut down on the bases. Mark
Grudzielanek singled and took second on a groundout, but was thrown out at
home on Costa's single to right.
Gathright's fielder's choice added a run in the sixth.
Brown lined his home run -- his 14th -- to dead center on a 1-2 pitch.
